½ Cup Molasses
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Essence

How to Make Christmas Gingerbread Cookies

Whisk: In a small bowl whisk together the dry ingredients: Flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, cloves, nutmeg and salt.

Beat: In a large bowl use a beater to mix together the butter and brown sugar until it is fluffy and light. Add in the egg, molasses, vanilla essence and beat until combined. Gradually add the dry mix to the large bowl on a medium speed until blended and smooth.

Chill: Divide the dough in half and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Cookie Cutters: Use cookie cutters to make desired shapes. Transfer the dough shapes to a parchment covered baking sheet.

Heat and Bake: Heat the oven to 180°C (350°F) Bake for 7-10 Minutes. If you want soft cookies bake for 7 minutes. Leave in the baking tray for 5 minutes before moving them to a cooling rack.

Decorate: When the cookies are cool start decorating!
